Whether you are a current PSLDC member, a prospective member, or one of our many public safety stakeholders, we trust the information in our website will provide you with a better understanding of the important role PSLDC plays within the public safety leadership development community.

The Consortium is powerful in terms of its scope and potential, as it brings together experts in public safety leadership from all over the world and facilitates collaboration. There are many ideas and best practices that need to be shared broadly to assist all organizations tasked with supporting leadership development within public safety. Our study teams tackle specific areas of concern and work together toward shared solutions. Through this website and our newsletter we will advise you of their efforts and any important new products or resources they develop. I encourage you to review the good work of your PSLDC colleagues and join them in these critical pursuits.

Women’s Study Team

Description: The Women’s Study Team includes a number of initiatives examining the rate of female participation in public safety leadership roles. Please contact Jane Hall if you are interested in more information about this team.

Competencies and Evaluation Study Team

Description: This Study Team is focused on the application of competencies for leadership development, and the evaluation of leadership development programs. Please contact Ruth Montgomery or Joel Cox if you are interested in more information about this team.

Ethics Study Team

Description: This team is concerned with ethical considerations in multilateralised policing (public police, private police, other government and non-government agencies). Please contact Rita Wirrer or Bud Levin if you are interested in more information about this team.

Emotional Intelligence Study Team

Description: The Emotional Intelligence Study Team is focused on linking EI with coaching/mentoring programs to encourage upward mobility. Please contact Tim Turner if you are interested in more information about this team.

Innovation Study Team

Description: This team is focused on identifying new ideas/approaches to leadership (with a focus on public safety), especially from the net centric and centerless organization perspectives.  How do we move from leadership styles developed for industrial age hierarchical organizations with permeable boundaries to information age (and beyond) organizations with no boundaries?  How do we move from a hierarchy of leadership to a system where anyone and everyone can be a leader under given (and in some cases—all) circumstances?  Who is doing innovative work already and is it useful and replicable for other organizations? Critical Thinking Study Team

The Public Safety Leadership Development Consortium hosts an important annual conference that brings industry experts together from across the world to discuss the latest issues and challenges related to the effective development of law enforcement leadership talent.
